Creativity is a Long Game

You can call it beauty

 the pleasure that pangs the heart

fills the space to the brim and leaves no room for timidity

add rhythm and you can call it poetry

The moment where you feel the spark of inspiration is wonderful- but creativity is a long game. It is a day in day out commitment to curiosity and connections. The songs I am writing today are still informed by some moment of beauty I took note of years ago. This poem was sparked by rereading one of my very first blog posts. Sometimes the flash of inspiration comes early and is refined over time. Sometimes it takes dumping the collection of memories on the table and seeing what happens when you string them all together in a new order. Either way, we have to make a long term promise.
