For a number of years, I sent out a postcard size print monthly. Here is the evolution of that project: A postcard calendar!
This is a 5”x 7" POSTCARD CALENDAR! The artwork is intended to become a postcard when the month is over. Make it a practice to cut it off and write someone you care about in the real world!
Every week for my “A Wilder Wonder” newsletter, I reflect on what I’m exploring in my creative life by writing and drawing about it. The artwork for this calendar is a collection of favorites from that practice this year. I found themes of bravery, movement, resonance, connection and rest.
Most of my drawings are meant to eventually become relief prints. I love color, but this year I was really exploring working with just black and white and the concept of notan. A Japanese term, Notan refers to the harmonious interaction between light and dark shapes within a composition.
